Inclusiveness & Anti-Discrimination Policy

Commitment to Inclusion

South Clackamas Historical Fencing is committed to fostering a welcoming, respectful, and inclusive environment for all individuals, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, ability, religion, or background. We believe that historical fencing is for everyone, and we strive to make our club a safe and supportive space for learning, growth, and community.

Respect for All Identities

  • We recognize and affirm all gender identities and expressions. Members are encouraged to share their pronouns, and all members are expected to respect them.

  • Discrimination, harassment, or exclusion based on gender, sexual orientation, or any other personal identity will not be tolerated.

  • LGBTQ+ members are valued and supported, and we actively work to ensure that they feel safe and included in all aspects of training and club activities.

Zero Tolerance for Discrimination & Harassment

  • Any form of bullying, harassment, or discriminatory behavior—whether verbal, physical, or online—will result in immediate action.

  • Members are expected to treat everyone with kindness and respect, regardless of differences in identity, experience, or background.

  • If a member experiences or witnesses discrimination or harassment, they are encouraged to report it to club leadership, who will address the situation promptly and appropriately.

Accessibility & Participation

  • We strive to make historical fencing as accessible as possible for people of all abilities. If a member has specific accessibility needs, we encourage open discussion so that accommodations can be made.

  • No one will be excluded based on experience level, body type, or physical ability—fencing is for everyone, and we will work to ensure that all members have the opportunity to participate safely and effectively.

Gender-Inclusive Training & Gear Policies

  • Members are welcome to train in the gear and clothing that best aligns with their gender identity, as long as it meets safety requirements.

  • Club policies on partner drills, grappling, and sparring will always prioritize consent and individual comfort. No member will be pressured into drills with which they are uncomfortable.

Enforcement & Accountability

  • Violations of this policy will be addressed seriously, following our Code of Conduct enforcement procedures.

  • Club leadership is committed to ongoing education on inclusivity and will continue working to ensure a positive environment for all.

  • Members are encouraged to provide feedback on how we can further improve inclusivity within the club.

At South Clackamas Historical Fencing, we are not just a training group—we are a community. We stand firmly in support of diversity, inclusion, and respect, and we expect all members to uphold these values.
